The Firefox link process consumes a lot of RAM: So much so that it sometimes
causes sshd to get swapped out, and then the whole gitian build fails because
the final copy-from-target times out while the VM swaps sshd back in.

Also, sanitizing them prevents us from being explicit as to if we want a tag
or a branch (which is important for signature verification - otherwise we
could verify the tag sig, but then get an unsigned branch of the same name).
